Thanks to the K.M. Hunter Foundation, the Thunder Bay Public Library is excited to host Lynda Banning and Lyne Soramaki, who will be reading from their book Migizi and Giniw's important journey : niish migizi bimisewin.
Lynda Banning is a member of Fort William First Nation and works for Anishinabek Nation. Lyne Soramaki has been a Nurse for 30 years and currently works at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit. In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, Lynda and Lyne have been working together since 2010, developing teaching tools to promote intergenerational healing. Their collaboration on the Caring for Mother Earth Project was featured in “People Making a Difference” on the Canadian Partnership for Children’s Health and the Environment website. Together Lynda (Migizi) and Lyne (Giniw) wrote their first children’s storybook to share the story of their many adventures. Their storybook is dedicated to those who work toward making positive changes in the lives of children and communities.
